Saturday at Keith Francis: Trialling a New Skincare Brand
Saturdays at Keith Francis have a different energy — a bit more relaxed, a lot more chat. Today was one of those good ones.
Putting a new skincare brand to the test
I've been looking at a new skincare brand and wondering whether it's worth bringing into the treatment room. New products cost money and shelf space, so before I invest in anything, I want real answers to three questions: do clients like it, would they come back for more, and would they actually buy it themselves.
The only way to know that honestly is to put it on real skin, so today I trialled the routine with two clients:
One with sensitive skin
One with mature, acne-prone skin
Two very different skin types on purpose — if a brand can perform well across both, that tells me a lot more than trialling it on similar skin twice. Early impressions were promising, but I'm not making any calls yet. I want to see how their skin responds over the next few days before deciding whether this earns a permanent spot on the menu.
Finishing the day with microneedling and polynucleotides
Rounded off the afternoon with a microneedling treatment using polynucleotides — one of my favourite combinations for skin quality and repair. A calmer, more considered way to end a Saturday.
Not too busy, and all the better for it
It wasn't a packed diary today, and honestly, that suited me fine. Slower days give me time to actually pay attention to the products and results in front of me, rather than rushing between appointments. I also had a lovely time chatting with the hairdressers in the salon — it's one of the nicer parts of working somewhere with such a good mix of people.
More to come once I know how those two clients' skin has settled with the new brand.
